Repeating Old Patterns
Do you repeat old patterns hoping for a new outcome? Your not alone, most of us go through life unaware of why we do what we do. We keep hoping that if I just do the same thing, but better, I will finally have the outcome that I have been looking for.If we go through life without awareness, we continue to repeat old patterns and can end up feeling depressed, hopeless and alone. We may be looking for someone to mirror our response, a loving and calming force we did not get in our early childhood. Someone who can supply us with an affirming feeling of belonging and an essential need to feel understood. When this person falters we may feel abandoned and sabotage the relationship or we may continually pick someone who can never really fill any of these needs. We know that all of our needs cannot be filled all the time by anyone, but the disappointment may be too great to deal with successfully.
In a safe therapeutic setting you can begin to explore your expectations and how you go about trying to fill your needs. New patterns of behavior are discussed in a safe therapeutic setting, which help you bring about new outcomes.
You can change old patterns with a newfound awareness. The journey begins with you taking the first step by reaching out for help.
